Avanquest Deutschland GmbH Introduces Xandros in Major Breakthrough to More Than 2000 German-Speaking Retailers and Resellers

Xandros, the leading provider of easy-to-use Linux alternatives to Windows, and Avanquest, a global developer and publisher of best-selling personal and professional software, announced today an agreement to deliver the Xandros line of easy-to-use desktop and server products to retailers, resellers and distributors throughout Germany, Switzerland, and Austria.

The Xandros desktop product offerings, through major retail chains including Media Markt, Saturn, Karstadt, and Kaufhof, are a major breakthrough in the German-speaking markets. In addition to Xandros product availability to retail consumers the distribution agreement also delivers the Xandros German language desktops and servers to leading distributors, system integrators (SIs), and Value Added Resellers (VARs).

"We are extremely pleased to be working with Xandros. Xandros is clearly a rising star on the Linux market, and together with Avanquest's excellent sales and marketing organization, we look forward to creating a great success story," said Andy Goldstein, Avanquest Executive Director. "Especially with the pending release of the Vista operating system, we see a tremendous growth potential for the Xandros product line."

"Our localized version of the Xandros Desktop OS has been well-received by the German press, and with Avanquest's tremendous distribution resources behind us, Xandros is breaking open the retail market for easy-to-use Linux products," said Andreas Typaldos, Xandros CEO. "The value of open source alternatives is already well-established in the German-speaking market, and we expect an enthusiastic response for our secure, stable, low-cost alternatives to Windows desktops and servers."
