Terrorist Attack Wounds Nine Iraqis, Western Baghdad

BAGHDAD , Iraq - Nine Iraqi civilians were injured when a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device detonated in western Baghdad at approximately 1:55 p.m. March 5.

The individuals wounded in the attack were waiting in their cars in a line at a gas station when the VBIED detonated. All of the injuries were minor in nature.

Elsewhere, Multi-National Division - Baghdad 's 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, found a roadside bomb west of Baghdad and detained four suspected terrorists who fled from the scene.

The bomb consisted of one 155mm round and one 130mm round in a bag with a cell phone.

A washing machine timer, six-volt battery and a computer were also found at the site.

An Explosive Ordnance Disposal team conducted a controlled detonation to eliminate the threat.
