Night Watch: JERUSALEM - The "iron fist" statement from Israel Prime Minister Ehud Olmert is not only due to an increase in violence, less than a month before Israel's March 28 elections, but the violence has caused his Kadima party to lose support. Olmert knows the Israeli public wants to see a powerful response and it could be on the order of Israel's pre-emptive strike in June 1967, in which they knew they were about to be attacked so they attacked first.

As crossfirewar.com has been saying all along, Tehran would not mind and would perhaps prefer Israel to attack first and not only Palestinian militants but also Islamic countries like Syria, Lebanon that have been supporting terrorists groups. When Israel does so Tehran and Islamic media can portray Israel as the aggressor. They will use the next major war with Israel as another unifying influence knowing that though Israel is by no means the main target of the Jihad, since Israel is not important economically, war with Israel will indeed be popular all over the Islamic world.

A lot of Islamic political and spiritual leaders are waiting to stage a glorious show celebrating the martyrdom of those who die on what they will call the holiest front.
