502nd Infantry Soldiers Discover Weapons Cache South of Baghdad

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Soldiers from 2nd Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, located a weapons cache Feb. 22 south of Baghdad.

The Soldiers discovered the cache during a search of the area where they had found three previous caches.

The cache consisted of 35 60mm mortar rounds, 11 80mm mortar rounds, 80 120mm mortar rounds, five rockets, two 155mm artillery rounds, one 60mm tube and two 60mm base plates.

An explosive ordnance disposal team conducted a controlled detonation to destroy the cache.
