Adide to Unveil World's First Eco-Intelligent Oscar Gowns

Jan Klingberg, co-founder / partner of Adide, a unique clothing company noted for its strong environmental message and empowering personal philosophy, is launching its Oscar Goes Green Collection with the unveiling of the world's first organic Oscar Gowns for the Academy Awards.

"By using fabrics such as Bamboo Silk and Hemp Silk in its gowns, Adide is demonstrating that there does not have to be any compromise when creating organic clothing," Klingberg says. "We wanted to make the dress very symbolic as well as show what can be done with bamboo fiber. You can be sustainable and still have fashion," Klingberg notes. Prior to launching Adide, Klingberg, who graduated from Marshall University with a double major in chemistry and psychology, began his career working with Ralph Lauren and Donna Karan.

WHAT:

The Oscar Goes Green gowns are made of Bamboo Silk, with trimmings and embellishments that include decorative leaves cut from silk organza, fresh water pearls and rough cut garnets. The gowns, which are designed to evoke classic Hollywood glamour, feature elegant fishtail trains, graceful draping at the back, and alluring off-the-shoulder styles. The Oscar gown worn on the Red Carpet will be auctioned off afterwards, with the proceeds going to the Conservation Alliance, a non-profit organization of outdoor businesses who support grassroots efforts to protect wild and natural areas.

Adide (pronounced ad-dee-day) is Hungarian for "give me more," which is defined in terms of making the right choices and appreciating and respecting the things we have instead of must accumulating more possessions. Adide designs its clothes using Eco-Intelligent fibers, such as bamboo, soy and hemp, which are conscious both of the environment that they create for the body to inhabit and the environment that is affected by the choices we make..
