B.O.B. Productions: Children As Early As One Year Old Can Use The Computer With Beobi And The Magic Coloring Book
RIVERSIDE, Calif. (EWORLDWIRE) Feb 15, 2006
Parents are thrilled there is a new way to introduce children to the computer, with the book series, Beobi(R) and the Magic Coloring Book(R). "I feared letting my child on my computer because she would pound on the keyboard," said Tricia Cohn. "With the CDs created by B.O.B. Productions, Inc. my daughter only uses the mouse as she effortlessly colors each picture of the story."
"Beobi stories and interactive CDs produced by B.O.B. Productions, Inc. are highly recommended for young children (ages 12 months to early readers)," said Dr. Flint. "The story lines provide young learners with engaging opportunities to learn about going to a doctor, playing at a park and visiting horse stables, while at the same time introducing children to technology and reading. As a first introduction to technology, young learners are able to color the page by moving the mouse. They experience early success as each page is filled with color. Controlling the mouse promotes hand-eye coordination as well as large and fine motor control. These skills are necessary for early writing endeavors."
The creator, Tricia Cohn, developed the CD-rom to bring her stories of Beobi and the Magic Coloring Book to life. "Reading to children is so important and any way they can be read to will benefit them," said Cohn. "My daughter loved to be read to and she loved watching me on the computer and wanted to be on the computer. I created a way she could have both."
The stories are simple, yet they expose young learners to a variety of words that contribute to rapidly expanding vocabularies. The stories are written with an eye towards "everyday language." The CDs offer young children opportunities to follow the words on the screen as they are spoken. Each word is highlighted as it is spoken providing young children or early readers with demonstrations of how the English language is read from left to right, top to bottom. The concept of directionality is critical for early readers to establish as they begin to make sense of words on paper. Additionally, the combination of spoken words and visual representation supports different learning styles as well as reinforces each word.
Currently two of the six books include a CD-rom, Our First Adventure and ABC First Words (which has a English/Spanish feature.) All titles are available at www.beobi.com along with DVDs, coloring books and plush toys featuring the characters, Beobi, Bluezy, Class and Jazzica. The products range in price from $4 - $25.
"Now, parents can trust their child will respect the computer if they utilize Beobi and the Magic Coloring Book as their first experience," says Cohn. "When the child touches the keyboard nothing happens. When the child clicks on the mouse, nothing happens. When the child moves the mouse correctly and colors the picture, they will be instantly rewarded with a page from our stories coming to life. Parents will be rewarded with smiles from their child and a computer that is intact with its files in place."
