There Is a Harlem Rose Blooming In Atlanta, Georgia

Today’s society way too often defines beauty for women in physical attributes and outward appearances. The media, thru television, fashion and entertainment magazines tells women how they should look, what size they need to be and what clothes they need to wear to be considered beautiful. In the United States, the average women is 5”4 and weighs 140 pounds, yet women are still bombarded with unrealistic images of beauty. If by chance a woman happens to fall short of in most cases an unattainable standard, it can lead to depression, low self esteem and even eating disorders.

The Harlem Rose label is the brainchild of Andrea White. White describes the t-shirts as her own thoughts that just happen to be on t-shirts. “Many of the t-shirts deal with issues that women face on a daily basis and that they can relate to. Some of the t-shirts deal with how women see themselves or better yet how they should see themselves, self esteem, learning to embrace themselves just the way they are, relationships, men, heartbreak and some of the tees are just plain humorous,” explains White.

“I want women to not only look good, but more importantly I want them to feel good when they are wearing one of my t-shirts. My goal is to keep putting out inventive and creative shirts. I want Harlem Rose t-shirts to help women make a statement about who they are and what they believe in. But more than anything I want us as women to realize that beauty comes in all colors, shapes and sizes and nothing about us was created in error, so love it and live it,” says White.
