MacPractice Announces Universal Applications, MacPractice MD, MacPractice DDS, and MacPractice DC

MacPractice, Inc. today announced the immediate availability of Universal versions of the first three healthcare practice management software applications designed especially for Mac OS X: MacPractice MD for physicians; MacPractice DDS for dentists; and MacPractice DC for chiropractors. Among the many powerful features of these releases are integrated accounting, multi-resource scheduling, electronic insurance submission (EClaims), patient and insurance billing and tracking, prescriptions, integrated word processing, patient follow-up (recalls for dentists), medical and dental imaging, and powerful to-do functions.

"Using Apple's Xcode developer tools we created Universal versions of all three of our applications in one hour," said Mark Hollis, President and Director of Client Relations for MacPractice. "The gain in performance of our applications on the new Intel-based Macs is truly dramatic and MacPractice plans to introduce many new Universal products for healthcare professionals."

"Apple has a very strong presence across the medical field, and healthcare practices globally are increasingly choosing the power, ease of use and stability of Mac OS X to drive their businesses," said Ron Okamoto, Apple's vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations. "We're thrilled to see MacPractice leverage Xcode to quickly and easily deliver Universal versions of its popular practice management tools for our powerful new Macs."

Future plans for MacPractice include the development of an integrated MacPractice EMR (Electronic Medical Record) application, and MacPractice DR (Digital Radiography) and MacPractice TC (Tooth Chart) for dentists.

MacPractice utilizes MySQL, the world's most popular open source database, with over 6,000,000 active installations worldwide. Many of the world's largest organizations -- including Yahoo!, Sabre Holdings, The Associated Press, Suzuki and NASA -- are realizing significant cost savings by using MySQL for business-critical enterprise applications and packaged software.
