Reminder - Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa Commemorates Opening of New Qantas Airways Maintenance Base at LAX
WHAT: To commemorate Qantas Airways' expanding operations at Los
Angeles International Airport (LAX), Mayor Antonio R.
Villaraigosa will join airline executives for an inaugural
celebration and news conference at the new Qantas Airways
Maintenance Hangar. For the first time, Qantas will establish an
aircraft maintenance and engineering base outside of Australia to
perform scheduled maintenance inspections. This is another example
of the air carrier's commitment to LAX and the economy of the City
of Los Angeles. As part of the news conference, Mayor Villaraigosa
plans to announce 2005 Los Angeles World Airports traffic
statistics and share his vision for the future of aviation in
Southern California.

BOARD BUS TO ACCESS RESTRICTED AIRFIELD TO QANTAS HANGAR.
Government-issued identification AND proof of media affiliation
are required. Please arrive at the parking area no later than
10:30 a.m. for bussing via airfield to the Qantas hangar. Buses
will run continuously. B-roll will be available.
