Coronado Industries Makes the Caribbean Its Next Stop

Successful 2 A Registration and Market Approval in Europe Allow Caribbean National Health Systems Opportunity to Accelerate Adoption of the Innovative Technology

Coronado Industries, Inc. (OTC BB: CDIK), the manufacturers of the unique proprietary pneumatic devices for the non-invasive treatment of glaucoma, through its wholly owned subsidiary, Ophthalmic International, announced today that Dr. John Sharkey has had successful meetings with representatives of the Bahamian government concerning the incorporation of Pneumatic Trabeculoplasty (PNT) into the national health system of the Bahamas. PNT is Coronado Industries non-invasive treatment for glaucoma and ocular hypertension.

To that end a study protocol has been submitted by a Ministry of Health advisor to a Nassau hospital for approval. The protocol, when approved, will allow John LiVecchi M.D., Coronado Industries Medical Director to work with local ophthalmologists in treating approximately twenty patients for thirty days in order to allow the local ophthalmologists to confirm the safety and effectiveness of PNT.

PNT, an alternative to expensive medications and surgery, offers a low cost effective approach to manage both glaucoma and ocular hypertension. PNT has many positive attributes, which are both beneficial to the patient while offering the potential for a significant cost savings to the government.

Several epidemiological studies have shown that people of African descent suffer a higher incidence of open angle glaucoma than those of European, Asian or Hispanic descent and generally do not respond as well to conventional therapies. Previous studies have shown that the PNT procedure appears to be very effective in people of African ancestry. Italian doctors recently treated over seventy-five patients in Africa last summer with resounding success, and mirrored results seen in past studies undertaken by Coronado Industries.

“This move into the national health systems of the Bahamas is an exciting prospect for Coronado Industries,” says CEO, G. Richard Smith of Coronado Industries. “Success in The Bahamas serves as a stepping-stone into other countries in the Caribbean and South America. We are very pleased to be in a position to demonstrate to the government and the people of the Bahamas the benefits of PNT,” he said.

Coronado Industries focus on the development and commercialization of its patented PNT procedure as a cost-effective treatment of the most common types of glaucoma which are open angle and pigmentary as well for the treatment of ocular hypertension.
