Research Shows That Teachers Are Safer Drivers
Teachers' Insurance Plan Is Lowering the Cost of Car Insurance in Indiana
According to research conducted by Teachers'
Insurance Plan(TM), teachers are safer and more responsible than other
drivers and, as a result, paying too much for their auto insurance
coverage. To address that fact, Teachers' has a unique insurance program
that will enable Indiana teachers to obtain lower cost car insurance.
Teachers' Insurance Plan was formed in 1992 on the principle that teachers
are safer drivers and more responsible members of the community. "Our
analysis of actuarial and demographic data found that educators, as a
group, present a smaller risk than other drivers," said Steve Oakley, vice
president and program manager of Teachers' Insurance Plan. "In addition to
being safe drivers, experience shows that educators often commute fewer
days of the year and work closer to home. Those factors contribute to
lower insurance risk."
"Our underwriter, Response Worldwide Insurance Company, is a leader in
insuring safe, responsible drivers," said Oakley. "We decided that
Indiana's more than 85,000 educators should reap the savings benefit
associated with safe driving."
The plan is available to active and retired members of the educational
community, including educators and administrators at schools, universities,
school districts, and libraries. Educators can go to www.teachers.com or
call 1-800-2TEACHERS for more information.
