Soldier Reenlists from Combat Zone

TIKRIT, Iraq (January 17, 2006)- Many deployed Soldiers dream about the day when they return home and plan for life after the Army. It takes a special person to step up and reenlist from a combat zone.

Spc. Holly Huskie reenlisted today for four years from Forward Operating Base Speicher in Iraq.

Huskie, an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with the 47th Combat Support Hospital from Ft. Lewis, Wash., has been here for three months and gets great satisfaction from helping the troops that return from the battlefield.

"It is very satisfying to help the Soldiers," said Huskie, who is a native of Waseca, Minn.
"That was the main thing that influenced me to reenlist.

"I really like the organization of the military, and I really like the health care field."

Huskie plans to attend college and become an RN, and possibly an officer.

"If you don't know where you are going after high school and you do not have a plan for college, join the military, that's what I did and I'm glad I did," said Huskie.
