PHOTO AVAILABLE: Vending Carts Equal Huge Profits

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. (EWORLDWIRE) Jan 11, 2006

Carts are an excellent way to earn an impressive income with very little overhead - and they are not just for temporary tenants anymore. Once viewed as little more than cheap pushcarts good for a few extra dollars at the holidays, this specialty leasing segment has now grown into an estimated $10 billion year-round business that can add millions of dollars to a developer's bottom line.

Carriage Works, Inc. has been manufacturing carts, kiosks and vending carts for 32 years. In the last five years it has seen a huge increase in sales of Retail Merchandising Units (RMUs).

The specialty leasing option can offer double-digit growth in revenues, while affording a cart or kiosk owner a low-cost way to get their product in front of the customer.

One Carriage Works client who bought an espresso kiosk and set it up in a mall reported that after the one month of business he had decided to shut down his store in town in favor of opening more espresso kiosks due to their superior profit margins. In the first month he sold over $125,000 worth of product with a profit of $45,000.

It isn't only the vendors who benefit either - malls are also excited about keeping the carts and kiosks rented year-round, rather than just for the holiday seasons.

A well-placed vending cart with heavy foot traffic can expect to make between $3,000 - $9,000 a day. People have quit their jobs and put vending carts in mall locations instead. They hire a manager for the cart and then open another. One Carriage Works, Inc. client now runs 25 carts in malls across Calif.

Carriage Works also purchases a variety of used carts and retail units to restore and resell at a very low cost to entrepreneurs on a limited budget.

"It started out as a way to help the malls get rid of their old RMUs, and now it has turned into a large part of the business at Carriage Works," said Barbara Evensizer, owner of Carriage Works. "We have as many as 150 carts ready to ship out with prices starting as low as $1,200."

Container loads of these refurbished carts are shipped all over the world on a weekly basis.
