The Matthew Gaffney Foundation Receives Grant From The Inner-City Foundation For Charity & Education

Dr. Margaret G. Benedict, Executive Director of the Matthew Gaffney Foundation, announced today that the Foundation has been awarded a $10,000 grant from The Inner-City Foundation For Charity & Education. The grant will be used to fund three Gaffney Foundation fellowship students through the college preparation, application and approval process.

Richard T. Stone, Director of The Inner-City Foundation For Charity & Education, in announcing the grant said, "The Matthew Gaffney Foundation is a unique, hands-on organization that has developed a proven system that helps economically disadvantaged students gain acceptance to top colleges and universities, compete at the college level, and prepare them for productive careers. We are proud to support this fine organization."

"We are thrilled to have the recognition and support of The Inner-City Foundation For Charity & Education," responded Dr. Benedict. "This grant plus others we are about to announce will allow us to continue to help deserving, motivated students gain acceptance to such schools as Lehigh University, University of Connecticut, University of Pennsylvania, University of Vermont and others."

A total of 16 Gaffney Fellows have been assisted by the Foundation over the past 3 years and virtually all have received full scholarships. Some of the current Fellows in the program and members of the Matthew Gaffney Foundation Board of Directors are pictured on the following page:
