Sale Creek.Net: How A Young Entrepreneur Changed The Web Forever

SALE CREEK, Tenn. (EWORLDWIRE) Jan 3, 2006

The young man who has found fortune with his "Million Dollar" homepage may have a greater impact on Internet marketing fundamentals than many technology experts realize. Take for example the website salecreek.net, an all banner ad site that simulates a brick and mortar shopping mall.

Salecreek.net was started at approximately the same time that Tew's million dollar homepage website began, and while it might seem similar in some ways to Tew's Million Dollar homepage business model, it is not a copy-cat site.

"We have no connection to him in any way, but I must admit I have a lot of admiration and respect for this bright young man," said Steven Higley, the 48 year-old owner and creator of the online shopping mall. His website has been designed to give the online shopper the familiar feel of the shopping mall experience, without having to leave the comfort of their surroundings. Just as shopping malls use anchor stores to attract large crowds of shoppers, salecreek.net has taken a similar approach, as well as making attention grabbing special offers by online merchants a focal point of his website. There are even virtual sales reps offering helpful suggestions and valuable information that the online visitor can utilize, but has complete control over, with no sales pressure.

Higley says he started his site from Sale Creek, Tennessee, his small home town. Working as a care-giver to his 92 year-old grandmother, he had "a lot of idle time stuck in the house" and started the online mall from his home computer. The site subtitled, 'Home of the Super Saver Links,' started out as a single page on Register.com. But technical problems with so many banner links required Higley to further refine his site.

"A representative at Register.com told me they had never seen a site like this one, and in the process of my research I found the answer with the help of the Alexa tool bar, which also led me to Alex Tew," said Higley. "I was very pleased to learn of his success. When I recently discovered he was using eBay to auction off his last 1000 pixels to the highest bidder, I knew we were on the right track. Maybe someday we will be able to generate that type of revenue, but for now we are simply a small town virtual mall with Alex Tew as our inspiration."
