Success With People, Inc. - 'Twas The Week After Christmas
NOVATO, Calif. (EWORLDWIRE) Dec 23, 2005
'Twas the week after Christmas
When employees aren't around,
Nothing's happening at the office
There's barely a sound.
The decorations linger, some tinsel here and there
In hopes employees would think management does care.
The year-end bonuses were given out last week
While next year's overly optimistic goals made people freak.
At home managers and employees enjoy family and fun,
This year is past and all the work has been done.
Yet Covey says every company has productivity losses,
As only 19 percent of employees understand goals from bosses.
Combine that with mismanagement and poor direction
And employees are left praying for manager training and correction.
Often managers are so busy doing work their employees get left behind,
They lead inconsistently and put initiatives in a bind.
When employees lack regular interaction with their boss
Amidst the urgent, the relationship gets lost.
With no employee development, people are stagnant and caged,
It's clear as Gallup says, only 25 percent of employees are engaged.
Then more rapid than new Starbucks openings, talent problems they come,
Productivity loss, high employee turnover, and employee complaints 'til you're numb:
"Nobody listens! There's no encouragement! No training and my boss is a snob!
This work is emotionally draining. It's frustrating. It's stressful and only a job.
How long must we overpay executives to send jobs overseas?
I want this situation to change. I want us to become the best we can be!"
As the great work of some employees often hides a weak manager or jerk,
And unemployment indexes stop counting people long out of work,
It's time to improve the economy by developing our employees
With a proven system of managing people and priorities.
And so in a twinkling, I'll share with you now
The Success With People system to give you a "wow."
As you plan for next year, and are trying to organize well,
This system will help you avoid mismanagement hell.
It's really quite simple, and timely for New Year's,
And will enable you to finish 2006 with higher profits and cheers.
Systematic Power is the first Desired Result to Establish Your Foundation,
Because systems drive higher productivity and business profit sensation.
To engage employees, make Understand How You Make a Difference very clear
Then Live It - Observe It - Improve It (LOI) makes your solutions winning gear.
Yet what holds your foundation together is not rushed and brisk,
It's simply Sanctuary time, to rest, reflect and contemplate risk.
Next you need to Balance Your Workload so you can get important things done.
So start with Success Plans to organize priorities and still have fun.
Then Pass The Baton on Job Responsibilities so you don't become obsessed
And get the Right Person in the Right Job so work gets done the best.
Lastly but importantly, don't forget Compensation That Pays,
To reward people on results, rather than just showing-up for days.
The final group is equally important, to Manage Your Team's Performance all year,
And it starts with Listen More, to confirm to employees that you hold them all dear.
Next employees write Goals That Work rather than be assigned tasks to forget
And Halftime Reviews that have meaning rather than make employees upset.
The final Desired Result is to Coach - Do Not Play,
Because your people want to develop into more challenging roles someday.
It's a simple system really, and using it you'll be known to say loud and clear,
"Happy Christmas to All and to All Success in the New Year!"
