They know it cannot be accomplished peacefully given New Delhi's long standing, intractable and entrenched position that insists Kashmir remain part of India despite the province being predominantly Muslim. The Islamic uprising began in November 1989 and is the vanguard of Islamabad's strategy to defeat India. Due to the impact of the Khomeini revolution of ten years previously Islamabad realizes they will have more assistance than ever before.
A year ago Crossfirewar.com reported that Saudi Arabia conducted ground forces maneuvers with Pakistan and they have just held some naval exercises together. That is the reason the House of Saud purchased from Beijing, 20 years ago, 50-60 CSS-2 missiles, with each one possessing a 2,500 mile (4,000 km) range.
Tehran is also in a very real position to follow-up on Khomeini.
Earlier this year Islamabad announced that December 2006 is the timetable for having solved the Kashmir problem with New Delhi.
