Christobel E. Selecky Named 2006 President of Disease Management Association of America (DMAA)
Board President Re-Elected for One-Year Term
LifeMasters Supported SelfCare, a
national leader in providing disease management programs and services,
announced that Executive Chairman Christobel Selecky was re-elected to a
second term as President of the Disease Management Association of America
(DMAA) during the 2005 Disease Management Leadership Forum held October
16-18 in San Diego, California. Selecky was initially named President of
the DMAA in October of 2004.
As President, Ms. Selecky will continue to work with the DMAA Executive
Director and Board of Directors to set the strategic course for the coming
year and in advancing the understanding and acceptance of disease
management, particularly in the areas of government relations, physician
and other stakeholder engagement and outcomes measurement and reporting. In
addition, Ms. Selecky will work to assure the continued growth of the
DMAA's membership.
"Chris' continued leadership at the helm of DMAA will be essential to
enable us to move forward aggressively in accomplishing our strategic
initiatives," said Tracey Moorhead, executive director of the DMAA. "We are
looking forward to an exciting and growth-filled year for the industry."
A member of the DMAA since 1999, Ms. Selecky has served on the
organization's Board of Directors and in a variety of roles including
president (2005), president-elect (2004), secretary (2002) and as chairman
of the association's government affairs committee for four years.
Highlights of Ms. Selecky's tenure in that role include testimony before
the House sub-committees on Health of the Energy and Commerce and Ways and
Means Committees regarding the success of disease management among Medicaid
recipients and in advocacy efforts to include disease management into the
fee-for-service Medicare population through the Medicare Modernization Act
of 2003.
