GraniteEdge Networks Hires Successful Networking Executive as CEO and Closes Series A to Bring Total Raised to Nearly $8 Million
GraniteEdge Networks, delivering a new level
of intelligence to network security, today announced the appointment of
Tony Naughtin as chief executive officer. The company also announced the
final closing of its Series A venture capital funding round. An Investment
Fund Managed by The Acartha Group, LLC joins existing investors, OVP
Venture Partners and Outlook Ventures, with a $1.5 million investment,
bringing the total amount raised by GraniteEdge Networks to just under $8
million. Today's news comes on the heels of the company's recent product
launch of GraniteEdge ESP, the industry's first security analytics system
that exposes and tracks security breaches in progress. (Editors note:

The addition of Naughtin and the latest investment by The Acartha Group
will help GraniteEdge Networks rapidly scale to meet the growing need for
Global 2000 companies to protect themselves from financial and legal
liability, intellectual property leakage, and loss of customer confidence
caused by high-risk network security breaches.
"We invested in GraniteEdge Networks because of the breakthrough nature of
their product, GraniteEdge ESP. There is no other solution on the market
that allows IT security teams to identify and respond to any security
attack in real-time," said Douglas Morriss, managing partner at The Acartha
Group. "As the innovative leader in security analytics, GraniteEdge
Networks will drive this market beyond traditional network security
technologies and we're excited to help catalyze the company's growth."
Naughtin brings nearly 25 years of experience in the networking industry to
GraniteEdge Networks. Naughtin was the founder and long-time president and
CEO of Internap Network Services Corporation where he grew the company to a
$110 million revenue run rate over a five-year span, and took it through
two successful public stock offerings. Before starting Internap, he held
senior executive positions at ConnectSoft, Inc., NorthWestNet and
Cablevision Systems Corporation. Naughtin will serve on the board of
directors at GraniteEdge, and also currently serves as a director at
Counterpane Internet Security, Inc. of Mountain View, California. He holds
a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications from the University of Iowa and
is a graduate of the Creighton School of Law.
"I've been involved with companies that have become leaders in providing
customers with innovative technology for valuable improvements in network
integrity and reliability. GraniteEdge Networks is becoming such a leader,
and our team is very focused on making this happen," said Naughtin. "Our
mission is to make GraniteEdge ESP the standard for real-time Network
Behavioral Analysis (NBA). We enable significant enhancements to detection
and threat-reduction in a number of areas of the network that are otherwise
very challenging for today's security teams and experts."
"Tony is a perfect match for GraniteEdge Networks because he has a
successful track record in the networking world and shares our vision and
enthusiasm for solving a fundamental problem in the network security
space," said Dr. Ross Ortega, president and co-founder of GraniteEdge
Networks. "With strong investors, a new CEO, and the recent introduction of
GraniteEdge ESP, we have all the pieces in place to successfully execute on
our corporate strategy."
