Chick-fil-A to Donate to Disaster Relief as Part of Grand Opening Celebration in Gilbert on Nov. 3

Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy to Help Award Free Chick-fil-A for a Year to First 100 Customers in Line

Chick-fil-A will open its newest metro-Phoenix restaurant in Gilbert on Nov. 3, making a donation to the Salvation Army's disaster relief in conjunction with the grand opening festivities, which will also include giving away $26,000 in free Chick-fil-A in the first 15 minutes of business.

The restaurant at 4908 S. Power Rd., in Gilbert Gateway Towne Center, will open on Nov. 3, when the first 100 adults in line by 6 a.m. will each receive a free year's supply of Chick-fil-A combo meals (52 coupons). Participants must be 18 years and older and can line up as early as 6 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 2, with the prizes being awarded on Thursday between 6 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. The restaurant will officially open for business at 6:30 a.m.

Immediately before the awarding of the coupons on Nov. 3, Chick-fil-A will present a $1,000 check to the local Salvation Army to aid in disaster relief. "Both my wife and I have family in Houston and Mississippi, areas seriously impacted by the recent hurricanes, and we know many evacuees have come to Arizona," said Rob Dinsdale, operator of the new restaurant. "We are thrilled to be able include a donation to help those affected in our area as we celebrate opening a new Chick-fil-A restaurant."

Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy will camp overnight at the new restaurant with those lining up to be among the first 100 through the door at opening time. Chick-fil-A is celebrating the 2nd anniversary of its First 100 Fans promotion, which was launched in Oct. 2003 in Phoenix and has continued the event at every free-standing and in-line restaurant grand opening across the country. Almost $3 million in free Chick-fil-A has been given away since the promotion began. Last year, Cathy spent the night outside at more than 25 grand openings.

Dinsdale, a Brigham Young University graduate in business management, and his wife, Stephanie, moved to Arizona in 1997. He previously worked in the restaurant business, partnering with the Gilbert School District and the Gilbert Parks and Recreation department, in various activities and clubs. The Dinsdales have three children.

The new restaurant is open Monday through Saturday from 6:30 a.m. until 10 p.m. The breakfast menu includes the popular chicken biscuit along with an expanded lineup which debuted in June featuring the quick-service industry's first premium coffee blends, three custom-roasted Cafe Blends Coffees, and its new Chick-fil-A Cinnamon Cluster, fresh-baked mini swirls filled with sweet cinnamon served warm with a creamy vanilla icing.

Atlanta-based Chick-fil-A is the nation's second-largest quick-service chicken restaurant chain with more than 1,225 restaurants in 38 states and Washington D.C.
