Maker of First Aftermarket Custom Wheel Signs Big License Deal to Answer Market's Want for Iconic Cragar S/S Wheels on Their Neo-Retro Muscle Cars

The spirit of 1969 is alive and well. It's demonstrated in the success of Detroit's latest heritage designs. Such distinctive, old school styling is a refreshing change in today's world where automotive "sameness" abounds. The popularity of the latest Ford Mustang and the new line of Dodge Hemi-powered vehicles is proof that buyers feel the all-American muscle car image is still cool.

During the original muscle car era, the first name in custom wheels was Cragar, maker of the famous Cragar S/S® -- considered by many to be the most popular, most imitated, and most successful custom wheel in history. Over the past forty years, that iconic five-spoke wheel design graced more drag strips, custom car shows, and high school parking lots than any other.

Until now, Cragar Industries wasn't focused on the new car market, with its very large diameter wheels. However, these heritage designs from Detroit are hot and Cragar has been flooded with requests for its wheels in these sizes. The company could no longer ignore the interest, so it negotiated a licensing agreement with wheel manufacturing and distribution giant, Carlisle Tire & Wheel. Together, they are launching a new series of Cragar S/S alloy wheels to fit many of Detroit's more popular vehicles.

Carlisle Tire & Wheel is a subsidiary of billion-dollar Carlisle Companies Incorporated and carries the most comprehensive line of specialty tires and wheels in the marketplace. Its manufacturing and distribution abilities are second to none, doing business with the who's who of tire and wheel outlets in the US.

Cragar's VP of Business Development, Sean McGarry, states: "This licensing agreement allows Carlisle to build our designs, in alloy, and in the most popular sizes and fitments. The muscle car is back. A classic wheel design never goes out of style. The market says they want our brand and wheel designs on their cars, so we're pleased that we can now deliver on that request."

Cragar's association with the golden years of custom cars and drag racing is legendary. Carlisle has the resources. Now, with this licensing deal in place, today's custom car enthusiast, passionate about having just the right old-school look can put the Cragar S/S five-spoke on a classic custom car and on a new high-performance car, truck or SUV.
