Tikrit, Balad: Task Force Liberty Soldiers Killed in Two Incidents

TIKRIT, Iraq - A Task Force Liberty Soldier was killed and four were wounded when their vehicle caught fire near Tikrit at about 6:00 p.m. Oct. 19.

The name of the deceased Soldier is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The wounded Soldiers were transported to a Coalition Forces medical facility for treatment.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.

Later, three Task Force Liberty Soldiers were killed and one wounded when their combat patrol struck an improvised explosive device (IED) near Balad at about 7:45 p.m. Oct. 19.

The names of the Soldiers are being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The wounded Soldier was transported to a Coalition Forces medical facility for treatment.
