ScorpioGem Records Announces R and B Sensation Ron Anthony Performances At The Crimson Lounge In The Bronx, N.Y.
Grown And Sexy Live R and B Music Returns To The Bronx, N.Y.
BRONX, N.Y. (EWORLDWIRE) Oct 19, 2005
Notable Entertainment and the manager who brought America Ashanti, now introduces Ron Anthony. In conjunction with the release of his debut CD, "RA" on ScorpioGem Records, Anthony will be showcasing his extraordinary talent with a series of shows at The Crimson Lounge, 30-31 Webster Avenue in the Bronx, N.Y. on October 25, November 22 and December 27, 2005. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show will begin at 9 p.m. Anthony will perform songs from his debut CD, as well as R&B favorites with his live band. Each show will feature other up-and-coming artist and celebrity host.
Anthony believes it's time to put the live back into performances and romance back into R&B music. As one of the hottest, most talented new singer/songwriters to hit the scene, he is leading that charge, ready to take the world by storm with his energetic performances, a live band, romantic lyrics and a voice that Luther Vandross anointed as the next crooner.
Anthony is fresh off of performing at several Luther Vandross tribute shows. On July 31, 2005, he captivated thousands of people gathered at Grants Tomb in New York for a WBLS tribute. His electrifying performance was captured by NBC during their coverage of the event and was featured on that evening's newscast. Anthony also rocked the house at the Apollo Summer Stage 2005.
A natural performer, he started singing at the age of three in a gospel choir where he discovered the power of music and his love for live performances. In 1992, Anthony won a lead role in the touring production of "Mama, I Want to Sing," spending several years performing in the United States, Europe, Japan and Taiwan where he made a name for himself as a live performer. He also built a solid reputation as a background singer, working with Phoebe Snow, Chico DeBarge and Amel Larrieux.
Through these shows, Ron caught the attention of the one of the greatest R&B vocalists of all time. Vandross saw several of Ron's performances, and recognizing his undeniable talent, signed Ron to an exclusive deal to his production company.
"My music is multi-generational," explains Anthony. "I write songs that everyone can relate to - an eclectic mix of old school and the new." He counts soul pioneers Donny Hathaway, Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye among his influences along with Vandross, but it is the poetry of Maya Angelou that inspired him to develop his talents as a songwriter. His music explores the themes of love, respect and social responsibility.
