The International Disease Management Alliance [IDMA] and the HealthSciences Institute [HSI] Announce a Collaboration to Offer the HSI Chronic Care Professional Certification Program
IDMA Executive Director, Warren E. Todd has
joined HSI President, Blake Andersen, PhD, in announcing a collaboration to
offer the HIS Chronic Care Professional Certification Program. The
certification program was developed by the HealthSciences Institute in
partnership with disease management leaders from organizations including
the University of Minnesota Medical School/School of Nursing and the Mayo
Clinic. The 40-hour program is delivered to organizations in 2-day
on-site/off-site sessions, or, on via a recently launched eLearning program
designed in partnership with the University of Toronto Medical School and
Toronto's Centennial College. This acclaimed program has been a cornerstone
of public health, disease management organization, and health system
chronic care improvement initiatives.

Notes Mr. Todd, "While the expansion of disease management [DM] around the
world has spawned a considerable number of DM-related conferences, HSI's
patient-centered certification program provides a comprehensive and
integrated approach to building critical disease management competencies.
The program has been accredited by American Nurses Credentialing Center
(ANCC) -- CE credit for other professionals is also available.
Adds HealthSciences Institute's President, Blake Andersen, "We are very
pleased with this collaboration with the IDMA. Founder Warren Todd is a
true pioneer of DM in the United States and abroad. His six years of
leadership and experience in helping to found and build the DMAA as
past-president and executive director will be invaluable in the continued
expansion of DM in the US and around the globe."
The IDMA/HSI collaboration reflects the growing need to address the
management and prevention of chronic disease in both developing as well as
developed countries. This need was recently exposed by a series of reports
and paper from the World Health Organization and The Lancet. See, Series --
Chronic Diseases (The Lancet Oct. 2005)
(http://www.thelancet.com/collections/series/chronic_diseases) and

IDMA is a non-profit organization whose mission is to bring together the
pioneers in disease management from around the world to insure that
different models of disease management are nurtured and information shared.
