Management: Ready Aim Fire -- New Book Takes Refreshing Look at Established Business Fundamentals

NAPLES, Fla., Oct. 18, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- The failure of Enron and other powerful companies, the bursting of the '90s "tech bubble" and even the devastating oversights at NASA that contributed to the doomed Columbia mission all point to one thing, according to Anthony C. La Russo: the need for proven, sound management practices in a world that is constantly changing. His new book, Management: Ready Aim Fire (now available through AuthorHouse) offers business leaders a guide for implementing solid techniques in a turbulent world.

Although technology, information and global political change seem to move at breakneck speed, La Russo maintains that established fundamental management practices are the key to success. He explains that, in the business world, speed has become both a valuable weapon and a great concern. Management brings traditional concepts up to the fast pace of a global marketplace.

The crux of Management focuses on viewing leadership in three phases: "Ready," the time to think, plan, lead and communicate; "Aim," the time to focus and organize; and "Fire," the time when leaders should commit, implement and keep everyone involved.

La Russo provides the tools to develop a strategy based on these three phases. From the first chapter, he identifies what managers are up against today as far as global competition and the search for a purposeful, productive business model. Subsequent sections address essential principles such as valuing vital resources, including people; planning for dynamic market changes; developing a mission, objectives and strategies; and staying involved as a manager. La Russo's straightforward style makes this book both accessible and effective.

According to Rick W. Diehl, the principal of Strategic Technology Group, "Managing innovation is more critical for competitive advantage and growth than ever before. There is now more innovation everywhere by others, and you need to ensure that your company is in the game. [Management] is a sound ... general management book by an international executive who has been there and done it."

La Russo is a lecturer and consultant with more than 30 years of experience in industrial and service organizations. He has held senior level management, operating and staff positions, including president of major divisions in international companies. An adjunct professor of management for 20 years, he has written numerous articles on a variety of business subjects and now pools his expertise into Management, his first book.
