GIPS Extends the Standard for Voice Quality on Instant Message Platforms to India and Beyond
Geodesic Information Systems Selects GIPS VoiceEngine to Offer Millions of Mundu Messenger Users in India and Abroad Superior Voice Quality
Global IP Sound (GIPS), the leading
provider of embedded voice-processing solutions for the Voice over IP
(VoIP) market, today announced that Geodesic Information Systems Limited, a
Mumbai, India-based messaging software firm, has joined the ranks of
leading instant messaging providers using GIPS VoiceEngine to maximize
voice quality in its applications. The company, which is setting the bar
for IM-technology users in India, will incorporate GIPS VoiceEngine
technology in its Mundu Messenger instant messaging platform.
"Our solution clearly stands out as the world's first truly interoperable
instant messenger, and we needed every aspect of the software, especially
the voice quality, to meet the standard of excellence that our users have
come to expect from us," said Kiran Kulkarni, Managing Director, at
Geodesic Information Systems. "GIPS VoiceEngine has been adopted as the
voice infrastructure of choice for just about every major player in the IM
category. This solution was a clear-cut choice for us and we know that GIPS
will help us further entrench our solution with our Symbian, Pocket PC and
PC customers."
Mundu Messenger is an "Interoperable Instant Messaging" tool that not only
lets users communicate with one another, but also instantly and seamlessly
communicate across other major instant messaging services including AIM,
ICQ, MSN and Yahoo. The solution supports a broad range of instant
messaging clients on several platforms, including Windows, Unix, Pocket PC,
Symbian and Palm. For these platforms, Geodesic has adopted the full range
of GIPS VoiceEngine solutions, including GIPS Voice Engine Mobile, GIPS
Voice Engine Embedded, and GIPS Voice Engine PC Advanced. Geodesic will
integrate VoiceEngine to support push-to-talk communication that will run
on any platform.
Geodesic is poised to make a huge mark in the rapidly growing worldwide
enterprise instant messaging market. Currently, the company's Mundu
Messenger has gained the loyalty of over 5.3 million users. Today, over
50.6 million business users worldwide are utilizing enterprise-messaging
products, and will send nearly one billion messages each day in 2005,
according to market research firm Radicati Group. The growing popularity
of adding VoIP to these services can now be seen as a worldwide phenomenon,
as most major instant messaging companies throughout the U.S. and Asia
employ voice communications in their solutions. Geodesic extends GIPS'
dominance of this market to a new corner of the globe, and proves that GIPS
is dedicated to serving its customers wherever they may be located.
"As the market for instant messaging technology expands worldwide, the
interoperability that Geodesic provides will be a huge adoption driver for
the solution," said Gary P. Hermansen, President and CEO of Global IP
Sound. "Meanwhile, particularly in the international marketplace, the
inclusion of VoIP technology is quickly becoming critical to the success of
any solution. By utilizing GIPS technology, Geodesic will be able to
deliver high quality voice to its customers in India and around the world,
and in doing so is a prime example of how GIPS is quickly becoming the
standard for all VoIP solutions around the globe."
Mundu Messenger will be able to leverage GIPS voice processing technology
to deliver high quality voice across platforms, as well as to other
messaging solutions, many of which also use VoiceEngine. VoiceEngine allows
software and hardware developers to quickly and effectively implement
comprehensive and state-of-the-art voice technology, while focusing their
energies on enhancing their products to meet the needs of their end users.
The solution allows users to maintain their competitive position in their
own marketplace by bringing these solutions to market quickly and
affordably, while also delivering the highest quality voice available.
