Crossfire War: Damascus; Convenient Suicide of Syria's Interior Minister
By Willard Payne
Night Watch: DAMASCUS - Convenient suicides are always suspicious. I suspect the real reason is that the Interior Minister Brig. Gen. Gazi Kanaan was going to implicate Tehran in the removal of Lebanon's former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri. That would disrupt the serious international cooperation within two important capitals of the Islamic Axis, Damascus-Tehran.
There is also other convincing speculation as to the real reason for his murder. It is quite possible that Gen. Kanaan may have been part of a plot to overthrow President Bashar al- Assad. [SyriaComment]
