Dime Community Bancshares to Release Quarterly Earnings on Thursday, October 20, 2005

Dime Community Bancshares, Inc. (NASDAQ: DCOM), the parent company of The Dime Savings Bank of Williamsburgh, today announced that the Company expects to release its earnings for the quarter ended September 30, 2005 prior to the opening of the U.S. equity markets on Thursday, October 20, 2005.

The Company announced in July 2005 that would not hold a conference call accompanying the release of its earnings for the quarter ended September 30, 2005. Management currently intends to hold a conference call upon issuing its earnings for the quarter and fiscal year ending December 31, 2005.
