Drink Safe Technology Honored by MOMA Safety Exhibit

ANDERSON, Ala., Sept. 30, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- American company Drink Safe Technology has been chosen to participate in the first major exhibition at the newly renovated Museum of Modern Art, New York. The exhibition, called SAFE: Design Takes on Risk will showcase 300 products from across the globe specifically designed around safety. Francisco Guerra and Brian Glover of Drink Safe Technologies invented the world's first test strips commercially used to detect certain illicit drugs that may have been unknowingly slipped into a drink. The test in the form of small cards and bar coasters target the date rape drugs GHB and Ketamine, and help raise awareness of the current global trend of drink spiking and drug-facilitated sexual assault. This technology has been independently proven to act as a deterrent to potential spikers and therefore reduces the incidents of this traumatic crime. In 2002, the product was acknowledged as one of the coolest inventions of the year by TIME magazine, while in 2003 the graphic design was transformed to suit the different international markets and the name DRINK SPIKE DETECTOR was born. The product is now available around the globe, including UK/EU, New Zealand, South Africa, Singapore, Malaysia, China, Australia, Canada and the U.S. The exhibition runs from October 2005 till January 2006 and will help Drink Safe Technology in their goal to stop this crime before it even happens.
