Eagleslink.com Petitions For Brian Westbrook Contract Extension

Eagles Fan Website Aims To Keep Popular RB in Philly

PHILADELPHIA (EWORLDWIRE) Sep 27, 2005

Brian Westbrook's solid play over the past several seasons has not gone unnoticed by the Philadelphia Eagles organization but apparently his contract status has. With the prospect of the star running backs' contract expiring and the Eagles losing him after this season via free agency, Eagles fans are speaking out to voice their dissatisfaction. Eagleslink.com, a website dedicated to diehard Eagles fans, has announced a campaign to support Westbrook's attempts at a new contract with the hope that the Philadelphia Eagles' brass will listen to the people who support the team.

"Brian Westbrook is as versatile a running back that the NFL has to offer. His dynamic ability on the field as both a running back and wide receiver make him the most difficult Eagle to prepare for- without him the Eagles are merely an average offense," stated Rob Leckey, the organizer of Eagleslink.com. A petition has been setup on www.eagleslink.com requesting all Eagles fans to show their support for Westbrook.

"The view from the Ivory Tower makes it difficult to see the fans on the ground floor," declared Leckey. "The Dirty Thirty were wrong to boo Donovan in their attempts to get Ricky Williams, and Joe Banner and Andy Reid have earned some currency with their ability to evaluate talent. But no one is infallible, and the taste of my green kool aid is getting stale. Therefore, I hope they are listening but if not, I want to do what I can to keep Westbrook an Eagle."

So long as Westbrook has games like he had last weekend verses the Oakland Raiders (208 total yards and two touchdowns), the mountain of evidence of this player's value to the Eagles organization continues to grow.
