AIIM Seminar Educates Industry Professionals on Managing Their Business Content, Documents, and Records
AIIM - the
enterprise content management association brings their Content Management Solutions
Seminar to New York city on Monday, October 3. Professionals from
local businesses (financial services, manufacturing, education, healthcare,
and utilities), state and local government, and non-profits are invited to
attend this free educational event to learn how to better manage their
business content, documents, and records.
"No matter the size of an organization, nor the industry, chances are
business and government professionals are inundated with information in the
form of records, content, and documents. And it doesn't need to be in hard
copy to create problems. Information drives our core business capabilities
and yet it's an asset we frequently neglect," states John Mancini,
president of AIIM "Taking steps to manage paper, electronic, and web
content can dramatically improve business performance, reduce costs and
risk, streamline processes, and improve efficiencies."
Through industry research, moderated discussions, peer networking, and case
study presentations, attendees at AIIM's Content Management Solutions
Seminar will learn how to establish the business case for ECM, identify
business requirements, write an effective RFP, develop package selection
criteria, and determine ROI.

Opening General Session: Research Reveals the Business Drivers for ECM
Presented by AIIM - The ECM Association
AIIM surveys its community of end-users several times a year to find out
how organizations are tackling such issues as document management,
compliance, email management, storage, and security of business
information. We look for specific industry trends and best practices.
Attendees will learn how their peers are handling their content management
challenges, and where they compare in the process.
ECM from the Trenches (Interactive Discussion)
Moderated by Doculabs (industry
analyst firm)
Attendees will learn about real-life ECM implementations from their peers
in the trenches. What were their project goals; what challenges did they
have (internal/external); and was the implementation a success? If not,
why? What would they do differently the next time? These real-life
experiences will help business professionals and their organizations to set
project goals, determine system requirements, and validate return on
investment (ROI).
Closing General Session: ECM without a Strategy, is a Recipe for Disaster
Presented by Doculabs (industry
analyst firm)
Once organizations realize that Enterprise Content Management is an
integral part of their technology agenda, they need to ensure that they
develop a sound strategy that will maintain ECM throughout their
enterprise. Success in ECM is dependent upon the effort a business invests
in technology, people, and planning. This investment starts with strategy.
In this session, Doculabs will discuss the elements that all organizations
must consider in their ECM initiatives: getting executive buy-in,
developing a successful strategy, managing your ECM architecture, and
leveraging ECM beyond the first six months
Case study presentations will include the following:
How Avon Products streamlined its accounts payable processes with a
services-based document imaging and workflow solution.
How a major aerospace company uses capture solutions for extracting data
from thousands of purchase orders a day.
How MetLife found value by extending managed content through integrating
with third-party products.
How the Department of Transportation / National Highway Traffic Safety
Administration is extending content management technology to solve business
problems and efficiently service their constituents.
How four different organizations in financial services, manufacturing,
healthcare, and government use content to dramatically improve operations
and customer service, enforce business policies for information retention,
all while lowering costs.
How the U.S. Department of Commerce and National Oceanic & Atmospheric
Administration (NOAA) implemented document imaging and data capturing
technologies to improve the preservation of their documents and data.
How a financial services organization uses "dashboards" to monitor and
control compliance initiatives.
