Capital Ties Immortalizes Famous Bow Tie Wearers And Children's Book Characters
NEW YORK (EWORLDWIRE) Sep 19, 2005
A silk twill bow tie paying tribute to nine legendary individuals who were known for wearing this particular style of neckwear was issued today in the form of neckties, bow ties and formal wear by Capital Ties, a New York company.
"It's nine sets of two-letter initials separated by colorful bow tie images," describes Stuart Hotchkiss, Executive Creative Director and owner of Capital Ties. ""No one has been able to guess them all so far, but it sure is fun hearing that people have tried so hard." Hotchkiss will e-mail or fax the answers to his brain teaser upon request.
Hotchkiss used to create specialized crossword puzzles as a teenager and even published a teaching supplement called The Biological Crosswords in 1973. "So the Famous Wearers bow tie became my grown-up version of a crossword puzzle," muses Hotchkiss. "I suppose it's even fair to say that this tie is as much a tribute to puzzlers as it is to famous bow tie wearers."
Hotchkiss also designed and markets a Dick & Jane bow tie, with six famous male and six famous female names referring to these classic children's book characters. "There's no real mystery to solve, but a name like Coeur de Lion (King Richard I) has challenged a lot of people to ponder why it deserves to be in the design."
To challenge his customers just a little more, Hotchkiss designed and is test marketing a male-only version of Dick and Jane and calls it Dickie Bow, a term used for a straight cut bow tie by tuxedoed Englishmen.
