Gold Canyon Appoints W. Duncan Riesmeyer, Former Springpole, Santa Fe Canadian Mining Exploration Manager to the Board of Directors

Gold Canyon Resources Inc. (TSX-V: GCU) ("Gold Canyon" or the "Company") is very pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Duncan Riesmeyer as a Director of Gold Canyon Resources Inc. effective September 12, 2005, subject to acceptance by the TSX Venture Exchange.

The Company will benefit from Mr. Riesmeyer's profound understanding of the Springpole Gold Project along with his 30 years of expertise in the exploration and mining business. Mr. W. Duncan Riesmeyer served as vice president of Santa Fe Canadian Mining, Ltd. and was the exploration manager for the Gold Canyon - Santa Fe Springpole Joint Venture until being appointed to president of Santa Fe's Brazilian subsidiary -- Santa Fe do Brazil Emp Ltda. Mr. Riesmeyer, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, graduated from the University of Virginia with a B.A. degree with high distinction in 1969, and from the University of New Mexico with a M.Sc. degree in geology in 1978.
