Multi-National Forces capture Al-Qaida terrorist brigade leaders

BAGHDAD, Iraq -- Multi-National Forces captured Ammar ‘Abd-Al-Hafiz ‘Abd Muhummad (aka Ammar Amam Wakhtif or Sheik Ammar), an admitted terrorist and leader of the Nu'man Brigade, in a raid earlier in September in the Ramadi area.

Sheik Ammar oversaw and directed the day-to-day operations of the organization. He ordered numerous vehicle borne improvised explosive device and improvised explosive device bombings and other direct attacks against Iraqi Security and Coalition Forces.

Sheik Ammar took over as leader the brigade when Muhammad Daham was captured in May.

Sayf-al-Din Yahya 'Anad (aka Sheik Sayf or Abu Hamza), a Nu'man Brigade cell leader, was also captured during the raid. He was responsible for organizing and directing attacks against Iraqi Security and Coalition Forces.

"The capture of these two terrorists coupled with the more than 200 others captured or killed throughout Iraq recently demonstrates the coalition's continued progress in removing these key terrorist leaders," said Col. Billy J. Buckner, Multi-National Corps spokesman. "We are degrading the overall effectiveness of the Al-Qaida in Iraq terror network and its ability to conduct operations in Iraq."
