Crossfire War: Caucasus - Bomb Attack on Major Gas Pipeline - No Damage

By Willard Payne

Night Watch: MOSCOW - The gas pipeline that was targeted runs from North Ossetia to Georgia but there was no damage. The same pipeline has been targeted in the past.

Reuters reports that the latest violence has taken place less than a month after Ingushetia’s Prime Minister Ibrahim Malsagov survived an assassination attempt. Two makeshift roadside bombs went off in the Ingush city of Malgobek injuring a police officer.

Moscow controls this area in name only. In reality the news has admitted that a lot of the violence is not even being reported. Police and troops die daily across the North Caucasus to the Caspian. Just south of here Georgia may decide to go to war with separatist regions. The area is completely up for grabs.

This is where so much of the war will be decided. When units supported by Iran are defeated Tehran will begin to make arrangements with Moscow to end the fighting. But as of now all Russia can do is conduct some holding operations and nothing to seriously threaten Iran, until Russia is better prepared.
