Crossfire War: Ukraine - Yushchenko Dimisses Tymoshenko Government - Corruption
By Willard Payne
Night Watch: KIEV - In a continutation of Byzantine Black Sea intrigue President Viktor Yushchenko has dismissed the government of Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, the "gas princess".
Infighting seems to have gotten the better of his administration after the Orange Revolution settled into office earlier this year. President Yushchenko stated he hoped Tymoshenko and others could still be part of his team afterwards.
The dissolvement of his administration and admist questions of his ability to make crucial decisions puts at serious risk an effective Ukranian economy and with less corruption. The country could now break up into economic spheres of influence. Berlin-Moscow controlling the north-east industrial area and with Ankara-Tehran being the most influential in the south-west and future development of Ukraine’s raw materials.
What makes an effective response from President Yushchenko, in the immediate future doubtful, are statements from a former Deputy Prime Minister Mykola Tomenko, who says that the President has no idea about the real situation in his country. [RIA Novosti]
