Blount Memorial Hospital Prescribes FileKeeper for Its Windows Users
Medical Center Adds FileKeeper Enterprise's User-Centric Data Protection to Its Existing Tape Backup System, Enforces Data Protection and Retention Policies, Extends Disaster Recovery to Their Desktops
FileKeeper, Inc., the leader in user-centric
data protection, today announced that Blount Memorial Hospital has selected
FileKeeper Enterprise to provide real-time data protection for over eight
hundred of its Windows users.
Founded in 1947, Blount Memorial Hospital is a regional medical system that
provides comprehensive medical services to thousands of patients in East
Tennessee. Blount Memorial's IT Staff supports over eight hundred Windows
users located across Blount's 15 hospital, clinic and treatment center
locations. "We support hospital administrators, caregivers and
specialists," said Jason Mashburn, Director of Information Systems for
Blount Memorial Hospital. "Providing IT services to meet the needs of such
a diverse group of users is a constant challenge."
One of Jason's key challenges is making sure that the information created
by Blount's healthcare professionals is protected. "For years we've asked
our users to copy their important files to our servers so they would be
backed up." Mashburn continued, "Each year we have cases in which users
lose important documents stored on their PC because their local hard drive
has a problem and the user failed to back up their files to our network."
Blount Memorial turned to FileKeeper to provide real-time file protection
for Blount Memorial's Windows users. FileKeeper backs up files every time
they are created, modified and saved, regardless of whether the file is
stored on a user's local PC, on a network file server or attached storage
device. FileKeeper empowers Blount Memorial's users to restore the most
current and previous versions of their files on their own, without having
to involve the hospital's IT support staff.
"FileKeeper provides our IT staff with a centralized, auditable system to
define and enforce our written policies regarding data retention and
protection. FileKeeper also gives us the peace of mind that our users'
files will be backed up regardless where those files are stored on our
network." Mashburn continues, "We expect FileKeeper to help us avoid costly
data losses, reduce the amount of resources we currently spend performing
file restores and improve our end-users' satisfaction by responding faster
to their file restore requests."
"We are pleased that Blount Memorial has joined a growing number of
healthcare organizations that are buying or evaluating FileKeeper
Enterprise," said Ken Cross, CEO of FileKeeper. "We believe our
user-centric approach of backing up every file, created by every user,
every time the file is saved provides an excellent solution for highly
regulated healthcare environments, such as Blount Memorial."
