Crossfire War: South Asia; Dhaka - Arrests Over Last Month Bombings Reach 200

Night Watch: DHAKA - The number of those arrested in last month bombings have now reached 200 as the government increases security in preparation for more possible attacks.

Home Affairs Minister Lutfuzzaman Babar, was quoted by Reuters, "We don’t rule out chances of more attacks and so have been taking further measures to avert it." Of those arrested he said, "They have given information suggesting that not only Islamic militants but other terror groups were also involved in the bombings. We are updating security everywhere, including plans to install close-circuit cameras at street corners."

As this site mentioned at the time the nearly 500 small bombs went off, that is was Tehran’s way of being subtle. In the meantime the group the government has blamed, Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen, said that if a lot of their members are arrested they will take "counteraction".

The other terror groups those arrested mentioned probably points to Tehran, who wants to use Bangladesh, with Dhaka’s support or not, as a third front against India. Kashmir, India’s northwest border with Pakistan and now Bangladesh. With what are perhaps militant training bases along the Zero Line border between Bangladesh and India militant infilitration can take place without Dhaka even knowing it.

It is quite possible there are those in senior positions in Bangladesh’s military who want war with India to end New Delhi’s tendency to engage in border disputes. India started one just two days after the bomb attacks.
