Iraq Government Outreach Plan Informs Iraqis on Draft Constitution
By Alan Gray, NewsBlaze
Major General Rick Lynch, Deputy Chief of Staff, Multinational Force, Iraq, said in his press briefing "Continued progress on the political front is pressuring Insurgents. Democracy in Iraq equals failure for the insurgency. The insurgents are committed to derail the democratic process and to discredit the Iraqi government."
At the forefront of that political progress is the Iraq Constitution and it outlines a bright future for all Iraqis.
It is truly a vision for the future based on democratic values, a future that protects human dignity and human rights.
The draft will now go before the Iraqi people at a referendum on October the 15th. As the constitution and the future of the country sit in the hands of the voters, it is important that they take the time to read the constitution, debate it, and then decide how to vote on it.
The Iraqi government has an aggressive outreach plan for the Iraqi people to allow them to make an informed decision.
Drafts of the constitution will be distributed, classes and conferences will be held, and public debates will be encouraged -- all examples of democracy in action.
