Task Force Liberty Soldier, six others killed by suicide bomber in Baqubah

TIKRIT, Iraq – A Task Force Liberty Soldier was killed when a suicide bomber detonated an explosive device in the Diyala Provincial Joint Coordination Center in Baqubah at 12:50 p.m. Aug. 23.

One U.S. civilian contractor, four Iraqi PJCC employees and one Iraqi police officer were also killed in the attack.

Nine Task Force Liberty Soldiers were wounded, along with one U.S. civilian contractor, six Iraqi civilians and four Iraqi police officers. All the wounded were evacuated to a Coalition Forces medical treatment facility.

Two of the wounded Task Force Liberty Soldiers have been returned to duty. The incident is under investigation.
