2005 DOIM/AKM Conference And AFCEA Technology Showcase Brings Senior Army Leaders To Ft. Lauderdale August 23 - 25

FAIRFAX, Va. (EWORLDWIRE) Aug 18, 2005

The 2005 DOIM (Director of Information Management)/AKM (Army Knowledge Management) Conference will be held at the Broward County Convention Center, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida August 23 - 25. Co-Sponsored by the Army Chief Information Officer (CIO/G-6) and NETCOM (Network Enterprise Technology Command)/9th ASC (Army Signal Command), this conference is the premier forum to bring government and industry together to openly communicate commercial best business practices and government implementations for Army DOIMs.

Senior Army, government and industry leaders will address this year's theme, "Home Station to the Battlefield: Enabling Warfighters." Featured speakers include: GEN Benjamin Griffin, Commanding General, U.S. Army Materiel Command; LTG Steven Boutelle, Chief Information Officer of the Army; Vernon Bettencourt, Deputy Chief Information Officer of the Army; LtGen Robert Shea, USMC, Director for Command, Control, Communications and Computer Systems, The Joint Staff; LTG Larry Dodgen, Commanding General, U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command; Lt Gen Charles Croom, Jr., USAF, Director, Defense Information Systems Agency; MG Ronald Johnson, Director, Installation Management Agency; BG Randolph Strong, Commanding General, U.S. Army Signal Center; Joe Capps, Director, Enterprise Systems Technology Activity; Mike Capellas, President and CEO, MCI; and Robert Worrall, Vice President of IT Governance and Planning, Sun Microsystems.

A panel session will provide attendees the opportunity to dialogue with experts on "Partnering to Achieve Enterprise and Global Network Operations." In addition, eight track sessions and 13 information exchange forums will give attendees specialized training in their area of expertise.

Over 200 defense and IT exhibitors will display their products and solutions for information enterprise security at the AFCEA Technology Showcase. Although registration for the conference is closed to the public, the exhibits are open to the public free of charge.
