Defense Acquisition University Chooses Storactive LiveBackup(R) to Safeguard Its Desktop and Laptop Data

University Identifies LiveBackup's Transparent CDP Technology as Key Differentiator Among Competitive Backup Solutions

File server disk space is expensive and DAU employees rarely remembered to do the backups; even when users did move files to the server, the most current version resided on users' desktops and laptops. Now that DAU has shifted away from using file server space for backups, all client data, including 20-year old reference materials, are automatically saved regardless of the date.

A series of hard drive failures and lost data prompted DAU to seek out a system for managing client data. Over the last few years, DAU's investment in laptops has been outpacing that of desktops; one purchase included 85 laptops for their instructors. In under a year, 45 of those 85 laptops suffered hard drive failures. Confronted with a potential six-figure data recovery bill, DAU imposed a "do not recover" policy for client hard drives and began a search for a cost-effective data protection solution.
