SMART Modular Technologies' ATA and CompactFlash Cards Target Extended-Temperature Applications

  Share With Friends

Designed Specifically for Industrial-Grade Applications, These Standard Flash and CompactFlash(R) Memory Cards Enable OEMs to Incorporate High-Quality, Tested, Reliable Memory Into Their Latest Rugged Designs

SMART Modular Technologies, a leading independent manufacturer of memory module products and services, introduces new industrial-grade CompactFlash and PC card products for telecommunications, military, aviation, and automotive applications. Designed specifically to withstand an industrial temperature range of -40 to +85 degrees Celsius, these cards allow OEMs to deploy them in industrial-grade products requiring performance in extended temperature ranges.

With card density ranging from 16MB to 4GB, both product lines are optimized for power and performance. The industrial CompactFlash memory cards, for instance, offer a high-performance read/write current of only 60 mA when supplied with +5 VDC (or 50 mA when supplied from +3.3 VDC), as well as a sleep mode of 500 µA.

Incorporating on-board error detection and correction algorithms, dynamic wear leveling techniques, SMART's industrial CompactFlash and PC cards -- delivering more than 2 million program/erase cycles for most applications. This superior performance is due to results from SMART's use of single-level cell NAND Flash technology, which offers program/erase improvements over multi-level cell technology by a factor of 10X in reliability and 2X in speed.

Specific applications for SMART's new memory cards include telecommunications routers and hubs, military communications and surveillance systems, aviation databases, Global Positioning Systems, and diagnostic automotive applications. Recognizing the need for environmentally friendly products, SMART has designed the industrial memory cards to be RoHS compliant (Pb configurations are also available).
