EYEFORTRANSPORT - RFID IN TRANSPORTATION AND LOGISTICS
Press Release
Date: 01 August 2005
For immediate release
eyefortransport's "RFID in Transportation & Logistics" report
identifies the key issues facing transportation & logistics companies
and their customers when it comes to RFID implementation.
(London, 1st August 2005)
The new report examines the reasons behind companies' RFID
strategies, the obstacles they foresee and the benefits they expect
to realise through implementation of the technology. The report also
compares this year's survey data with that of a similar survey
conducted last year.
Despite the acknowledged benefits of implementing RFID solutions, the
adoption rate is slow. Cost and lack of standards are still
significant impediments to widespread adoption.
This year's survey revealed that while a large number of respondents
across the board are actively engaged in research and strategy
planning, a high percentage of respondents from all segments are
adopting a wait-and-see attitude.
eyefortransport's RFID in Transportation & Logistics survey drew
responses from over 200 industry professionals and key players. The
results of the survey have been published in a report : RFID in
Transportation & Logistics - An analysis of eyefortransport's recent
survey, which can be downloaded from
www.eyefortransport.com/rfid2005/report.shtml
Much of the data gathered from this survey will be discussed and
debated at the 2nd RFID Opportunities for Transport & Logistics
Providers conference, which takes place on 4-5 October at the Rio
hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. This is an event for transport and
logistics industry executives who are interested in meeting with
customers and peers to find out how to develop and execute a
profitable RFID strategy.
This will be the only event focused solely on how transport and
logistics providers can utilise RFID!
"Excellent timing, focus and content," said 2004 RFID Opportunities
for Transport & Logistics Providers conference attendee - Erleen
Anderson, Industry Strategy Manager for DHL Worldwide Express
Logistics. "Logistics providers make RFID usage real and learning
from each other benefits all our customers by enabling faster ROI
realization."
At the conference you will:
* Hear 4 real life case-studies from transport & logistics providers
who are already making their RFID investment pay - Exel, UPS, Menlo
Worldwide & TNT share their experiences with you!

and hear first-hand how they want to work with transport &
logistics providers - DoD, Michelin & Goodyear tell all - How

"RFID has been the buzzword in the industry for some time now," says
Andrew Bold, of EFT Research Service. "Separating truth from hype is
a major challenge for LSPs and their customers - this event provides
a key opportunity to learn from real-life Transport and logistics
success (and failure!) stories; and the interactive sessions offer an
unmissable opportunity to get YOUR questions answered. A key event in
the T&L calendar".
