Middlesex Water Company Issues Boil Water Order for the City of South Amboy
Residents of the City of South Amboy, New
Jersey, are being advised by Middlesex Water Company to boil their water
due to a water main break that occurred on South Broadway in the City of
South Amboy this evening. This announcement was made in coordination with
the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), Middlesex Water, and the
City of South Amboy.
The DEP has determined that a potential or actual threat to the water
quality being provided to customers currently exists. Therefore, until
further notice, South Amboy residents are required to bring their tap water
to a rolling boil for one minute and allow to cool before using for
consumption; drinking, ice cubes, washing vegetables and fruit, and for
brushing teeth. Residents should continue to boil their water until
notified that the water quality is acceptable. The Company expects that
this notice will continue for the next 48 hours.
Water quality testing will be conducted by Middlesex Water as soon as
repairs have been made. For more information, call Middlesex Water Company
at (732) 634-1500.
