Acushnet Tees Up the Intentia Business Engine in Its Japanese Operation
World's Largest Golf Supplier Extends Relationship With Intentia to Integrate Global Supply Chain Operations
Intentia, the global enterprise solutions
provider for the manufacturing, distribution and maintenance industries,
announced today that Acushnet Company agreed to purchase the Intentia
Business Engine for its sales and distribution operations in Japan.
This new license agreement adds to Acushnet's existing contract with
Intentia. The Intentia solution is currently live at Acushnet's Canadian
facility. The additional licenses for Japan underscore the value Intentia's
Java-based solutions offer global companies such as Acushnet.
Acushnet, the world's largest supplier of golf equipment, manufactures and
distributes golf balls, clubs, shoes, gloves and accessories for its
leading golf brands including Titleist, FootJoy and Cobra.
Acushnet runs Intentia on the IBM iSeries platform to support major
business processes including sales, customer service, purchasing, product
life cycle management, manufacturing, forecasting and planning,
distribution, product configuration, finance and accounting.
"Intentia has a solution that offered tremendous value and flexibility to
Acushnet," said Peg Nicholson, Acushnet Senior Vice President and Chief
Information Officer. "We were looking for an ERP solution which offered
rich functionality on a stable and familiar platform which we could
implement quickly and easily in every country where we have sales,
distribution and manufacturing operations.
"We also needed a product which could deal with the wide variety of
products we make, some of which are fashion-oriented and some of which are
not. Among the differentiators was Intentia's ability to handle a bulk
order for golf balls, a matrix order for shoes and a configured order for
custom golf clubs," said Nicholson.
In addition, Acushnet needed a solution that could scale internationally.
Intentia offers Movex Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) applications in
all 20 countries where Acushnet operates. The Movex software provides
multiple market, language and currency capabilities to simplify business
processes.
"Intentia is proud that Acushnet has decided to expand its relationship
with us," said David Rode, President and CEO, Intentia Americas. "We are
confident that Acushnet will continue to create operational efficiencies
and experience positive gains with Intentia as the foundation of its
complex global sourcing environment."
