dog-friendly destination cities in the United States and Canada.
DogFriendly.com annually compiles this list for people who want to take
their dogs with them on vacation. This year there is a separate list for
larger cities and resort areas. The rankings are determined by the
DogFriendly.com staff and take into account the number and quality of
dog-friendly accommodations, transportation, availability of interesting
things to do with your dog and outdoor restaurants that allow dogs.
1. Chicago -- Stay in an upscale hotel, take a boat tour, visit Navy Pier,
enjoy the parks. Chicago has lots to do with your four-legged pal.
2. Vancouver -- Visit Historic Gastown and Granville Island. Take your
leashed dog on the local trains and buses. Visit nearby Victoria.
3. Boston -- Walk the freedom trail, visit the Faneuil Hall marketplace and
ride in a carriage. Your dog may ride the city subways with you. Visit
nearby Cape Cod or Bar Harbour.
4. San Francisco -- Excellent lodging and dog-friendly parks, ride the
famous cable cars, visit the Fisherman's Wharf area for some shopping. The

Lake Tahoe.
5. Seattle -- Take a carriage ride through Pioneer Square or visit the

7. San Diego -- Dogs love the off-leash parks and especially the beaches.

Visit nearby Julian or Temecula.
8. Tucson -- Stay at one of the many nice dog-friendly hotels. Take your
dog to Old Tucson Studios or the Pima Air and Space Museum. Visit Tombstone
for a day.
9. Toronto -- Visit Black Creek Pioneer Village, Centreville Amusement Park
or the Toronto Islands Park. Take your dog on the city's subways and buses.
