Billy Martin's USA to Team Up with INVISTA for New Washable Leather with LYCRA

NEW YORK, May 12, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Billy Martin's USA the 26 year old "born and bred" American brand known for its edgy apparel and accessory products with a "western" flavor -- announced today that it has signed a Letter of Intent to purchase its apparel leather from INVISTA, Dupont's Textile and Lifestyles subsidiary, and part of the largest integrated fiber and intermediates business in the world.

According to Billy Martin's CEO, Doug Newton, "INVISTA has developed a technology that combines the superior stretch and recovery benefits of LYCRA(r) fiber and the natural properties of leather. By joining the two together, the finished leather product will provide a new level of comfort, a vastly improved shape retention, and a customized fit requiring little or no 'break in' period for the wearer.

"The new leather product is both washable and stain resistant. Liquids either bead up and roll off, or are easily blotted away, leaving no residue. Plus, these leathers retain their original color and shape, washing after washing."

Newton said over the years, the Billy Martin's retail stores have sold thousands of leather products -- shirts, jackets, pants, skirts -- to customers who shop at the company's flagship stores in New York City, and on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles. "The only problem is the leather garment is styled great and feels great, but when it gets a stain on it, or loses its shape, it stops being great.

"INVISTA'S revolutionary technology will surely appeal to our consumers by extending the life of, and adding to the value of our goods. The name of the game today -- as has always been the case over the millennia -- is to develop products which provide real value and meaningful benefits to the consumer.
