AngelRideCT Celebration to Feature Attorney General Richard Blumenthal

The Angel Charitable Trust (ACT) has announced
that Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal will speak at the
celebration at the end of the Second Annual AngelRideCT cycling event to
raise money for children with cancer. The celebration will be held at the
Mystic YMCA, in Mystic on Sunday, May 29, from noon to 4:00 pm.
ACT is honored to have Attorney General Blumenthal as its guest speaker
because during his four terms in office he has been a supporter of
charitable organizations and has protected consumers from the misuse of
their charitable donations.
One hundred percent of the funds raised by the AngelRideCT will benefit
children with cancer and the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, which was started
by Paul Newman for children with cancer and other
life-threatening diseases.
AngelRideCT is organized entirely by volunteers. The 130-mile ride from
Norfolk to Mystic on May 28 and 29 is the only cross-Connecticut ride for
charity.
The challenging ride will pass through some of Connecticut's most beautiful
countryside, along pristine streams, through magnificent forests and over
rolling farmland on its way to Long Island Sound. The ride will feature a
night's stay at the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp in Ashford and the
celebration at the finish in Mystic, sponsored by Mohegan Sun.

The Angel Charitable Trust, a charitable non-profit organization started in
2003 by Lynn McCarthy and Fred Brooke, is named for Angela "Angel" Uihlein,
who contracted acute lymphoblastic leukemia in 2002. ACT raises money
through athletic endurance events with the goal of providing every
Connecticut child newly diagnosed with cancer with a new laptop computer to
assist them with academics and provide them with a connection to their
peers who are fighting the same battle.
In the summers of 2002, 2003 and 2004, ACT hosted open-water swimming
events. In 2004, ACT added the 130-mile bicycle ride AngelRideCT. ACT has
raised nearly $170,000 since it was founded.
