Latest POS Version to Include an "Extreme Makeover"

Ensign Systems Inc. today announced POS•IM(TM) Diamond 4.0 will be shipping Monday May 16, 2005. POS•IM, Point of Sale and Inventory Management software for retailers, utilizes the innovation in Mac OS X v10.4 to deliver a completely revised interface and many powerful new features.

The new look for POS•IM Diamond 4.0 has been fine-tuned to be complementary to the innovative look of Mac OS X applications and to make POS•IM screens cleaner and more intuitive for retail store employees. Another major usability improvement is the means to navigate between POS•IM modules, such as Sales and Inventory, with one application launcher and a navigation bar.

While Ensign is introducing many major features in Diamond 4.0, there is even more to come in the future. This summer Ensign plans to release a version of POS•IM for Mac OS X v10.4 "Tiger." The new version will include features to incorporate both Dashboard and Automator into the POS•IM system. POS•IM will give you several new Dashboard Widgets; 1) Margin Calculator, 2) Sales at a Glance, 3) Automated Advanced Help, and 4) Instant Supplies. The Automator enhancements will allow users to see a picture and extended data about items in their inventory with the click of a button. It will also integrate their POS system with third party programs to complete tasks such as automated e-mail notifications to customers and vendors, e-commerce links, custom output, and off site seamless backup.

"With POS•IM for Mac OS X we doubled our Macintosh POS sales," said Alan Thurgood, owner of Ensign Systems. "Mac OS X improves POS for independent retailers, and Tiger's new features will again significantly enhance our product and our customer's businesses."

"The ease-of-use, stability and power of Mac OS X makes it a perfect platform for driving small and medium businesses," said Ron Okamoto, Apple's vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations. "With this latest release Ensign again delivers a great application for retailers and we're really excited to see them take advantage of the significant innovation in Tiger to bring increased value to users."

Ensign expects Diamond 4.0 to be an exciting development for retail storeowners. With the combined power of a Macintosh, POS•IM is the perfect solution for independent minded retailers. Ensign Systems Inc., a privately owned company, released its first POS product in 1989. Today POS•IM is an industry leader who continues to be innovative in the current dynamic marketplace.
